SSH and SFTP in the browser, in beta

GoTerm

GoTerm is an SSH and SFTP client that runs in the browser, with nothing to install. Hosts live in one place, shared with your team, and saved credentials stay encrypted.

Who it is for

Developers and operations teams who manage servers over SSH and want the same hosts on every computer, including a borrowed laptop with only a browser.

What we built

  • A full SSH terminal in the browser, with SFTP file transfer
  • Hosts kept in spaces: your own, each team's, and those shared with you
  • Saved credentials encrypted, with the key held apart from the data
  • Jump hosts, so a server behind a bastion opens in one step
  • Sessions run by the server, so they can outlive the window that opened them and be shared with a teammate
  • Controls on outbound connections, so the service cannot be turned against other people's servers

Under the hood

A Go API and a Go SSH gateway do the connecting; the browser talks to the gateway over a WebSocket. GoTerm runs on its own, with its own accounts and invites, while it is in beta.

Tivali and Agoraboard run on one platform we designed and operate: a control plane that handles sign-up, billing and the list of tenants, and a data plane per product with its own database and file storage. GoTerm runs on its own while it is in beta. Databases are never exposed to the network, and the platform's parts talk only over authenticated HTTPS.
